Dr. Geoffrey Silvera is an associate professor of health services administration and the director of Graduate Programs in healthcare quality and safety at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He also directs the UAB Health Equity Leadership Academy where he mentors rising leaders committed to building more equitable health systems. His scholarship sits at the intersection of care quality and safety, strategic leadership, patient experience and health equity. He studies how executive decision-makers shape system outcomes and institutionalize community engagement in healthcare settings. He serves on multiple editorial boards and is associate editor of the Patient Experience Journal. Teaching and mentorship are central to his work as he sees education as a lever to equip future leaders who will transform care systems around the patient.
